Colombia has bid farewell to arms and a 53-year-old civil war. In a low-key ceremony, held at a former FARC stronghold, rebels handed over the last of their weapons to UN observers.

The FARC will now become a political movement. The ceremony was attended by hundreds of former FARC fighters and prisoners of war.
