Canada’s new prime minister, Justin Trudeau has been sworn into office, marking the end of 10 years of Conservative government.
Trudeau became the 23rd prime minister of Canada and at 43 years old, he is the second youngest to hold the title in the country's history.
Trudeau chose a diverse set of individuals for the cabinet, 50 percent of which is women and has a Sikh for defence minister, and also a disabled minister.
The gender-balanced Trudeau administration is expected to increase public spending, Syrian refugee reception and ensure better relations with the US.
Following the ceremony of being sworn in as president, Trudeau said equal gender representation is important "because it's 2015."
Trudeau, a former school teacher, was elected a member of parliament in 2008.
