One person was killed and two others were wounded in a shooting at Tennessee State University in Nashville late on Thursday, police said.
The injured were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment and their conditions were not immediately known, operations supervisor for the Metro Nashville emergency communication center, Tanya Stone said.
It is not clear whether the shooter or casualties were students.
The incident came after a series of shooting at or near universities in the US since the beginning of October.
Tennessee State University was a scene of another shooting last week when three people were wounded at a house party near campus.
On Oct. 1, nine people were killed at Umpqua Community College in Oregon by a gunman in one of the deadliest mass shootings in last two years in the US.
