"The crash took place in a field on approach to the airport," said Quebec provincial police Sgt Daniel Thibodeau, he described the weather conditions as "not ideal" for flying.
The crash took place as the turbo-prop aircraft carrying seven passengers and crew, reportedly including a local broadcast journalist and former member of parliament, was approaching for landing in foggy and windy weather, local ambulance chief Benoit Leblanc said.
Meanwhile, a Canadian transportation safety board team is going to the crash site in order to investigate the cause of incident.
