The White house briefing room was evacuated on Tuesday, breaking up a meeting with spokesman Josh Earnest after Secret Service agents entered and told everyone to leave.

The Secret Service brought in a dog to sniff around the room

Journalists on the premises were taken to another building within the White House context.

The area known as the North Lawn of the White House was also evacuated, according to CNN.

Earlier on Tuesday, officials investigated a bomb threat that was made over telephone and a suspicious package arriving at two US senate buildings.

Nothing hazardous has been found so far.
