Some of the world's most important documents and greatest novels were crafted on typewriters. It is highly unlikely that the manufacturers would have believed that their machines would be used to create pictures.

When Keira Rathbone  gets behind her keyboard, it is literally art of a different type -- no literary masterpiece for sure, but a masterpiece nevertheless.

Such is her art that she has even typed a picture of former US president Barack Obama from a thousand keystrokes.

And in a generation that has grown up hardly knowing typewriters, Rathbone's masterpieces are all the more impressive.
