Murder on Wheels will be the first novel to be adapted from an original Ian Fleming treatment since his death but written by Anthony Horowitz.

Murder on Wheels was written by James Bond author Ian Fleming 60 years ago but never completed.

In this unpublished story James Bond takes on the Russians and gets involved in Formula One Race.

The story was also written as treatments for a 007 TV series then cancelled because the films took over.

The Fleming estate has shown the material to Horowitz as a basis for a new novel 50 years after Fleming’s death.

Horowitz  is known to be the first writer to have been given unpublished material to work with.

He is the screenwriter of series including Midsomer Murders and Foyle’s War and  hit teenage spy series Alex Rider and authorised takes on Sherlock Holmes.

The new James Bond novel written by Horowitz based on Ian Fleming’s treatment will be called “Trigger Mortis.”

It will be published by Orion in the UK and Harpercollins in the US on 8 September.

Fleming wrote 14 Bond books in total and sold more than 100m books worldwide.
