A copy of Grey, E.L. James’, a new book to her Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy, has been stolen from the publisher.

Random House publishing now fears that thieves may leak the new Fifty Shades of Grey novel or sell extracts to the media before its publication date of June 18.

Kent Police has launched an investigation for the case.

Random House has not given any more information about the case. A spokesperson said: "We have no comment to make due to an ongoing police investigation."

The Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy has sold more than 125 million copies worldwide since the first book's release in 2011.

Grey is still scheduled to be published in paperback and ebook on June 18, the fictional character Christian Grey’s birthday.
