A fire at a multi-storey residential building killed at least 16 people and injured more than 60 others in Azerbaijan's capital Baku on Tuesday, local media reported.
Flames scorched the building, which has 54 apartments, as fire fighters battled to contain the fire and evacuate the residents.
One victim was reported to have jumped from the burning building. Two children were among those killed, local media said, quoting the health ministry.
The residents said that the fire started from the first floor and in a few seconds covered the entire building.
It is not yet clear what caused the deadly blaze, but media reports suggest the poor quality of cladding material is blamed by the officials.
