China and India signed deals on renewable energy, industrial parks, power, steel, logistics finance, media and entertainment, worth more than $22 billion during the three-day visit by Indian PM Narendra Modi to China.

Both Asian powers see the economy as one area for greater co-operation, despite their differences on a range of issues, including border and maritime disputes.

Modi talked about the border issue with the Chinese counterparts and said hopefully they will find a "fair and reasonable" solution in the future.

The two countries also agreed to start annual visits between their militaries, expand exchanges between the border commanders and start using a military hotline that has been discussed in recent years to defuse flare-ups on the border.
