Afghan authorities have said at least 10 children and one male adult were killed in a camp for displaced people on Monday after a series of explosions at a gas terminal in the western city of Herat.
Officials also said at least another 18 people were injured in the blasts and are receiving treatment in the regional hospital.
A spokesman for the hospital, Rafiq Shirzai, gave no details regarding the injured.
Eyewitnesses said the explosions were felt from a wide distance and showed images of flames reaching the sky.
Afghan officials have given no clear statement on whether the blasts were the result of an accident or an attack by a militant group.
