At least 38 people were killed and six others were injured after a fire broke out in a nursing home in central China’s Henan province on Monday, Chinese Xinhua news agency reported.
The Henan Provincial Work Safety Administration said the fire took place at Sanlihe village of Lushan county in Pingdingshan City, adding that the injured six, two in serious condition, have been rushed to hospital.
The Legal Channel of Henan, a local TV channel, said the fire was a result of a circuit problem, quoting a witness. However, officials said the cause of the fire was not clear, but the investigation was going on.
The channel also reported there may be dozens of hemiplegic paralyzed people trapped in their rooms at the facility where there were around 100 people living.
