Police said 33-year-old Ananta Bijoy Das was a banker, but was also a writer and blogger, who advocated secularism.
Das was listed as one of the contributors for the atheist Bengali blog 'Mukto Mona' that was founded by US-based blogger Avijit Roy, who was also hacked to death last February. A month later, another blogger, Washiqur Rahman, was killed in the capital Dhaka.
In addition to their critical views against Islam, they were also a part of a movement that called for the prosecution and execution of the Jamaat-e-Islami party politicians, who were accused of the involvement in war crimes during Bangladesh's 1971 war of independence.
