Two security officials of Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC), the country’s national human rights institution, were killed as their vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb in Jalalabad of Nangarhar province on Monday.
Rafiullah Bedar, spokesperson of the commission, said six other employees were also wounded in the attack that took place in the morning as they were coming to office.
Police Colonel Hazrat Hussain Mashreqiwal said the incident took place near the commission’s office.
No one claimed responsibility for the attack so far, but Bedar blamed it on Taliban.
AIHRC was established on 2002 to monitor the observance of human rights as well as to protect and promote human rights in the country.
