Apple recalls Beats XL portable wireless speakers due to a fire hazard caused by overheating batteries.

The recall will include almost 220,000 speakers in the US and 11,000 in Canada, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said in statement on Wednesday.

The statement added that there were eight incidents of overheating speakers reported to Apple.

Should the customers have store credit or a refund worth $325, they have to apply only through a web form.

After returning the speakers with a postage paid box sent by Apple, the company will pay a refund electronically within 3-4 weeks.

According to the Apple’s support web page, the recall covers all global customers.

Apple acquired Beats for about $3 billion in May 2014 to boost declining iTunes sales.
