Nine publishers, New York Times, BuzzFeed, National Geographic, BBC News, The Guardian, NBC, The Atlantic, Spiegel and Bild, will be launch partners of Facebook’s new program for publishers to publish their articles directly in the social network’s news feed.
“Fundamentally, this is a tool that enables publishers to provide a better experience for their readers on Facebook,” says Facebook Chief Product Officer Chris Cox in a company blog post.
“Instant Articles lets them deliver fast, interactive articles while maintaining control of their content and business models.”
Instant Articles will load stories “ten times faster than standard mobile web articles” and “have features that allow publishers to bring their stories to life.”
According to the blog, publishers will decide whether to sell ads in their articles and keep the revenue or use Facebook’s advertising tools.
