The results of this year’s Skytrax Passenger's Choice Awards were announced on Tuesday. According to the customer satisfaction survey Turkish Airlines has been awarded the title of Best Airline in Europe. This is the fifth consecutive time that the company has won this title.
Apart from being named the best airline in Europe, Turkish Airlines also gained recognition as the fourth Best Airline of the World, after being named fifth in previous year’s survey.
Skytrax Awards are one of the most prestigious in the industry. Every year, millions of airline passengers rank airline companies based on their experiences during their travels. The awards are given in various disciplines such as the Best Catering, the Best Seating or the Cleanest Cabin. Regional rankings such as the Best in Europe or Asia are also announced.
The title of World’s Best Airline went to Qatar Airways this year. Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific Airways took second and third best positions respectively.
This year 18.9 million airline travellers around the globe cast their votes in the survey. The results were announced at the Paris Airshow Awards ceremony on Tuesday.
Turkish Airlines is no stranger to awards. On June 2, Turkish Airlines’ “Kobe vs. Messi: The Selfie Shootout” video was named “the best video ad of the decade” in a competition held by Youtube.
The company also won the Skytrax awards for Best Business Class Airline Catering, Best Business Class Lounge and Best Business Class Lounge Dining this year.
Turkish Airlines, the national flag carrier of Turkey, has seen a popularity and growth boom since 2003. Currently Turkish Airlines operates scheduled flights to more than 300 airports in more than 100 countries, making the company’s global coverage the largest in the world. The company has been part of the “Star Alliance,” a global alliance of commercial airlines, since 2008.
