EU presidency calls for extraordinary meeting of security ministers following the suicide bombing in Brussels

The European Union's justice and security ministers will convene on Thursday for an extraordinary meeting regarding the deadly suicide attacks in Brussels.

The Netherlands, which currently holds the rotating EU presidency, declared the meeting in a tweet following the bombings in Brussels in which at least 31 people died and 260 others wounded.

"The meeting is intended to show solidarity with Belgium, discuss the actual state of play in the fight against terrorism and pursue swift completion and implementation of legislation," the presidency said in the declariton of the meeting on its website.

The meeting will be held on Thursday at 4 pm in Brussels, where the airport is still closed.
