German Chancellor Angela Merkel has called for a ban on full face veils and said the Muslim attire has no place in the country.

"Here we say 'show your face'. So full veiling is not appropriate here. It should be prohibited wherever legally possible," she said during a speech at her Conservative Party's congress.
