French President Francois Hollande reshuffles his government year before 2017 presidential elections

French President Francois Hollande reshuffled his government on Thursday, ahead of the 2017 presidential elections.

Former Prime Minister Jean Marc Ayrault becomes foreign minister. While ex-Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius becomes the head the country's top constitutional council.

Hollande is preparing for the elections, by reaching out politicians beyond his Socialist party. Hollande appoints Emmanuelle Cosse, the head of the Greens party, as Housing Minister.

Two dissident Green lawmakers also join the government as secretaries of state.

Manuel Valls stays on as prime minister.Finance and economy ministers also do not change.
