Kurz to take Austria further towards right-wing policies

Austria's shift to the right in a parliamentary election has paved the way for young conservative star Sebastian Kurz to become the next leader and opened a path for the resurgent far right to return to power.

In Austria, postal votes are still being counted but early results show 31-year-old Sebastian Kurz has led his conservative People's Party to victory.

He's set to become the world's youngest leader and will open talks to form a coalition government with either the far-right Freedom Party or the Social Democrats.
