Several shots have been heard at a home for asylum seekers in western Germany, leaving one refugee injured.
According to Police in Offenbach, near Frankfurt, many shots were fired in the town of Dreiech at around 2:30am wounding a 23-year-old refugee while he was sleeping. As his injury was not of serious, he was released from the hospital shortly afterwards.
Germany has taken in an enormous influx of refugees fleeing from the conditions of war and poverty in their countries. This year, the country accepted around a million refugees.
German refugee shelters are not unaccustomed to violent incidents as arson attacks, assaults and other crimes have been committed or attempted against them.
However, Monday’s attack neither had a clear motive, nor was anyone responsible held over the incident.
