A Syrian refugee, 21 years old, has been attacked and stabbed repeatedly to death with a knife as two other refugees were wounded on the same day in downtown Sofia, Bulgaria’s capital, the Bulgarian BGNES web portal reported on Sunday.

Those who attacked the 21 year old refugee have not yet been identified, according to BGNES.

The scene took place at an intersection between the Tsar Simeon and Knyaz Boris I streets, an area known for harboring many refugees from the Middle East and North Africa for decades.

On the same day, two other refugees were injured close to the capital’s central synagogue.

Both were taken to hospital.

Bulgarian police officers are still trying to figure out if the crime was recorded by CCTV cameras of nearby buildings.
