China, other Asian countries celebrate Lunar New Year

The Rooster is number ten in the cycle of 12 animals that make up the 12-year cycle on the Chinese lunar calendar.

One of the biggest occasions on the calendar in Asia and for Chinese around the world is Lunar New Year.

A special gala was held in China to welcome the year of the Rooster.

The annual gala was broadcast on Chinese television, which usually attracts 700 million viewers making it the most watched TV show in the world.
