Three men aged between 18 to 20 in central Italy were caught by police as they entered the school in Scandiano at around 4:00am on Sunday morning, attempting to set fire to the structure while pretending to be militants from ISIS.

Reportedly they first threw bricks to the windows then sprinkled petrol over two classrooms.

However their plan was spoiled by the school alarm.

They wrote “ISIS will pass among us again,”  before running away from the crime scene trying to give the impression of being ISIS members who had commited the arson.

But instead of belonging to ISIS, the trio were looking for revenge from their former teacher for being too strict by burning down the classrooms.

The trio now face charges for damages caused to the school.

The incident in south Italy occurred just after students in north-east Italy were suspended for performing the beheading of ISIS hostages and distributing the images on social media.

The 13-year-olds were suspended from school for three days.
