The last man to walk on the moon has died.

Retired US astronaut Gene Cernan was 82. The last time he set foot on the moon was in December 1972. It was his second trip there, making him only one of three men to have travelled to the moon twice.

Besides that accolade, he was also the second person to walk in space.
