Iraqi medical sources said that at least 25 civilians were killed in barrel bombs attacks carried out by Iraqi air forces on a hospital in Fallujah city in Anbar province.
At least 30 other women and children including staff were injured in the barrel bombs reportedly fell on a maternity and children’s hospital.
“Iraqi army planes dropped three barrel bombs on Fallujah Women’s and Children’s Hospital,” Mazen Al-Delaimy, a resident doctor at Fallujah General Hospital, said according to Anadolu Agency.
“The attack left the hospital completely destroyed.”
Iraqi Defense Ministry was blamed for the attack by Anbar province’s council, saying that the army’s attack “with lack of precision has claimed innocent civilians.”
The city of Fallujah, 50 kilometers west of Baghdad, has been under the control of ISIS since 2014. ISIS stormed the northern city of Mosul and declared a self-proclaimed caliphate in swaths of Iraq and Syria with a capital in the Syrian city of Raqqa.
