Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi mets with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier on Monday at Egypt’s Presidential Palace. It is expected that Sisi will subsequently pay a visit Germany in return.
Steinmeier arrived at Cairo on Sunday evening, and was received by the Egyptian minister for foreign affairs and members of the German Embassy in Egypt.
The German minister will also meet the Grand Sheikh of Al Azhar Mosque and University and a number of civil society representatives to discuss ways of boosting cooperation between Egypt and Germany in all fields.
Sisi and Steinmeier will discuss the latest developments in the Middle East, especially regarding Syria and the Yemeni peace process as well as cooperation against “terrorist” organisations.
