Ali Larijani, head of Iran’s parliament announced the Saudi operation failure in Yemen describing it as “abominable defeat.”
“Although Saudi Arabia announced its vıctory, the reality is the opposite,” Larijani said on Tuesday,according to Tasnim, Iranian news agency.
The Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham expressed that Iran welcomes the end of the operation, hoping of a “comprehensive dialogue between the Yemeni factions for a representative government.”
Saudi Arabia announced on Tuesday night the successful end of the “Decisive Storm“ on Yemen and the start of the ”Hope Renewal” operation, according to Ahmed Asiri operational spokesperson in a press briefing.
The Saudi-led coalitıon conducted 2415 air strikes with other allies against Iranian backed Shiite Houthis positions in Yemen within four weeks since March 25 as a response to Yemeni president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi to “save Yemen” as Saudi defence minister declared.
The “Renewal Hope“ operation aims to deny Houthi militias’ movement on ground, protect civilians, continue evacuations and human relief, Asiri said.
The White House welcomed the Saudi decision to halt air strikes as National Security council spokesman Alistair Baskey told AFP.
Egypt, member of the coalition, greeted the end of the operation in Yemen as the Egyptian Foreign Ministry stated on Tuesday, “calling all Yemeni parties to solve the crisis through dialogue.”
The Yemeni president Hadi thanked Saudi Arabia, Gulf States and other countries that supported Yemen in its crisis via a televised speech on Tuesday,. ”Yemenis will be back in Aden and Sanaa,” he said.
Nine hundred Yemeni people have been killed since the Saudi coalition air strikes started last March, according to United Nations’ estimates.
