The head of the National Council of Iranian Resistance, Maryam Rajoy, has accused Iran of Being the Godfather of ISIS.

These accusations were made during a video conference from Paris at a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the American Congress.

Rajoy said “The Iranian System and massacres in Iraq is the reason of ISIS appearance.”

“Terrorism was created by The Iranian system,” she added

“Despite all differences, the extremists who rule Iran and ISIS  are too close to each other and they may make arrangements among each other”, she said.

Washington made no comment on the accusations.

Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, affirmed to members of the Senate Armed Services Committee the existence of Iranian proxies in Iraq since 2004

Clashes between Iraqi forces and ISIS have been ongoing since June 2014 when the armed group seized Mosul and other territories in Iraq. ISIS have gained control of most western provinces in Iraq,

Iran has had authority in Syria as it is has been supporting Syrian regime since the beginning of the war in 2011. Moreover, Syrian Defence Minister General Fahd al-Freij visited Iran to discuss cooperation between the two countries' armies.

Staffan De Mistura, the United Nations envoy to Syria, recently told a private gathering in Washington that Iran has been channeling as much as $35 billion a year into Syria, according to one of the participants at the meeting.

Iran has been invited by De Mistura to participate in the Geneva peace talks with the Syrian opposition and Regime representatives due to its influence in the Syrian conflict.

The United States and some Arab countries were not in favour of Iran’s inclusion in the Syrian peace talks because they see Tehran as part of the problem rather than a solution according to Reuters.
