Israeli troops open fire during clashes at the Qalandiya checkpoint near the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah.

Palestinian medical sources said on Tuesday that a Palestinian man was killed and dozens were injured after Israeli forces opened fire at the Qalandiya refugee camp near Jerusalem in the occupied West Bank.

Violent clashes broke out after a jeep carrying two Israeli troops pulled up into the camp over night, a police spokesman claimed the entrance was a mistake.

The Palestinian health ministry identified the deceased Palestinian as Eyad Omar Sajdia, a 22-year-old student.

According to police, the Palestinians retaliated to the entrance of the troops and fresh clashes took place when Israeli forces and police reinforcements were sent to the scene of the incident to rescue the pair. Five officers were reportedly injured.

Since October 2015 at least 186 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces while 28 Israelis have been reportedly killed by Palestinians.
