Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has been carrying out several attacks on Gaza Strip following a statement from Israeli police claiming a rocket fired from Gaza exploded in an open area near port city of Ashdod, about 20 kilometres north of Gaza Strip, on Tuesday evening.

Israeli officials did not report any injuries from alleged rocket attack.

No responsibility was claimed in Gaza for the rocket firing.

Israeli army blames Hamas for the alleged rocket attack earlier on Tuesday evening.

Israel strikes Gaza for the first time since the ceasefire on Aug. 26, which followed a month and a half long war on Gaza that killed more than 2,200 Palestinians.

The Palestinians said the strikes hit several locations in the Gaza Strip, including the camps of Islamic Jihad on sites that were used as Israeli settlements before its withdrawal from Gaza in 2005.
