The Israeli military announced on Tuesday a Palestinian who allegedly stabbed an Israeli soldier in the West Bank was shot to death.
The army said in a statement that "forces at the scene responded to the attack and shot the assailant, resulting in his death."
The soldier was slightly injured from his face, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
Since October, approximately 133 Palestinians have been killed while 21 Israelis have been killed in attacks by Palestinians since then.
Most of the Palestinians killed have been teenagers as young as 12 - some of whom were killed by armed Israeli civilians, and others by Israeli army which usually allege the Palestinians were attempting the attacks.
Palestinians say the recent violence is the result of frustration from nearly half-a-century of occupation and they accuse Israel of using excessive force to suppress the unrest, while Israel says the unrest has been caused by a Palestinian campaign of lies and provocation surrounding the Muslim holy site of Al Aqsa Mosque.
Palestinian authorities have emphasized a younger generation has no hope for their future living under the Israeli tight security measures and with a weak economy.
An Israeli minister said recently that all Palestinians must leave the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem and simply “go live elsewhere.”
