Local fish business in northern Lebanon faces a bleak future

Lebanese fishermen in Tripoli suffer as local catches prove to be contaminated and cheaper imports threaten the daily market where seafood is auctioned to vendors.

A daily fish auction in Lebanon's north is facing a bleak future. Cheaper imports, fish unfit for consumption and illegal catches off the coast of Tripoli threaten the livelihoods of local fishermen. 

The auction market has been running for over 50 years, helping Lebanese fishermen make a living out of their daily catch.
