Multi-vehicle traffic accident leaves 16 dead in Egypt

Sixteen security officials killed and another four injured in multi-vehicle crash in south of Egypt's Cairo

Egypt’s Health Ministry officials said late on Friday at least 16 security forces were killed and four others were injured in a multi-vehicle crash in the south of the capital Cairo.

A police car, a taxi, and a mini-bus were involved in the accident in the village of Al Shousha in the Beni Soueif governorate and 16 officers were killed, including three civilians.

He said the injured four were also security officials.

Egyptian people have long been complaining that authorities failed to enforce basic safeguards for the country’s roads and railways which have poor safety records, according to some local media, citing residents.
