A Palestinian girl was shot dead by Israeli soldiers in the occupied West Bank after allegedly stabbing an Israeli soldier, the Israeli Army reported on Saturday.

According to an army spokesmen the Palestinian girl was shot dead after she allegedly tried to stab an Israeli soldier near the Ibrahimi Mosque in the West Bank city of Hebron.

The Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed that Kilzar al Owewi, 17, had been shot dead by Israeli army troops at a checkpoint near the Ibrahimi Mosque.

According to ministry figures, Saturday’s death brings the total number of Palestinians killed by Israeli troops since Oct. 1 of last year to 171, including 35 minors.

Over the same period, around 15,000 Palestinians have been injured, roughly half of them by rubber bullets and heavy ammunition, the ministry added.
