Israeli soldiers shot dead Hamad Romaneen, an armed Palestinian, who opened fire at a checkpoint in the West Bank, the Israeli military said.

There was no casualties reported in the incident.

This is the third violent event of the same nature in the last eight days.

Last Sunday, an Israeli paramilitary policeman standing outside the walled Old City of Jerusalem was stabbed and wounded in the neck by a Palestinian who was immediately shot and detained by an Israeli policeman.

In addition, one Israeli hiker was killed and another was wounded when they were shot by an alleged Palestinian man while driving near a Jewish settlement in the West Bank according to Israeli security.

The armed man was able to escape from the scene before anyone else could spot him.

Jerusalem has been witnessing age-old conflicts between the Palestinian and Israeli sides both before and after the Gaza war.

The Palestinian Authority has submitted its first batch of evidence of war crimes by Israel to the Hague-based international criminal court (ICC); targeting the offenses the Palestinians faced from the Gaza war.

The 2014 war on Gaza saw over 2,100 Palestinians killed, most of whom were civilians, as well as the death of 67 Israeli soldiers and six Israeli civilians. 16,245 homes were destroyed due to the war that continued for 50 days before a cease-fire put an end to it last August.

The Israeli-Palestinian peace talks have consistently failed to reach their objectives due to the lack of commitment to the two-state solution which the ultra orthodox Israeli Knesset members strongly oppose.

Since the 1967 Middle East war, the Palestinians have tried to retrieve the lands in which the Israelis have illegally settled; the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza.
