People of Erbil hope for a better New Year

At a time when much of the Middle East is in flames, the New Year’s festivities in the northern Iraqi city show that coexistence between different religions and ethnicities is possible.

The city of Erbil in northern Iraq hosts many people who escaped the terror of Daesh in Mosul. It hosts people of many religions and ethnicities.

Despite these differences relations between them are friendly. Residents from all backgrounds take part in the New Year’s festivities, hoping that next year will bring peace.
