A school and a residential building were blown up today in the Sheikh Zuwaid area in Sinai.

The Egyptian government announced the attack was in response to security forces clearing the area of ​​mines and explosive devices.

There were no reported loss of lives or injuries.

Witnesses say four-wheel drive cars had been booby-trapped outside “Alawadh” school and a residential building and were detonated remotely, damaging a number of adjacent houses, according to Al Masry Al Youm newspaper.

Extensive security campaigns have been waged by the military forces in Sinai to clear the area of land ​​mines planted by members of the armed groups the Egyptian government is battling in Sinai.
