"The suicide attack took place at 5:40am (0440 GMT) in a mosque at Kouyape. There were 13 deaths including the man who blew himself up and one wounded," a senior local official said on condition of anonymity. But another senior officer said that the death toll due to the bombing is only 10.

Since last year, the Nigerian militant group Boko Haram has been carrying out attacks in Cameroon , Chad and Niger.

Most attacks were executed by women suicide bombers.

Nigeria alongside military coalition partners of Niger, Chad and Cameroon has claimed successes in fighting Boko Haram since February last year, forcing the group’s fighters out of the territory it used to control.

The United States is sending military supplies and troops to Cameroon to support an operation against the militants. The operation led by Nigeria is expected to start by the end of this year with participation of the 8,700 Cameroonian troops.
