At least 20 civilians, most of whom were women and children, were killed on Saturday when a Syrian regime missile hit a playground in opposition held Wa’er neighbourhood of Syria’s Homs province, the Syrian Observatory of Human Rights (SOHR) monitoring group said.

Citing officials from a local hospital, Anadolu Agency reported that there were about 100 injured, many of which were in critical condition.

Homs has been a target of heavy regime shelling recently, as the battle over control for the city between forces loyal to Bashar al Assad and the Syrian opposition continued.

In the four-year-long ongoing Syrian civil war, the Assad regime has killed over 200,000 people most of which are civilians including thousands of women and children
