Two policemen died in a motorbike attack on Wednesday near the Giza pyramids in Egypt’s capital after masked gunmen opened fire, in the latest attack on security forces, police said.
One of the victims was killed on the spot, while the other died in the hospital.
Health Ministry spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar confirmed the incident to the AFP.
Egypt has been suffering from insurgent attacks that targets policemen and army officers mainly in the Sinai peninsula since former president Mohamed Morsi was deposed in a coup in July 2013.
Meanwhile, Egyptian media accused the Muslim Brotherhood, from which Morsi hails, of being behind the attack.
The Muslim Brotherhood has made no statement on the accusations.
The attack took place after two senior Muslim Brotherhood leaders were arrested in Cairo on Monday.
