UNESCO says Israel's sovereignty over Jerusalem is "null and void"

The resolution by UNESCO's executive board passes by 22 votes to 10, with 23 abstentions. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu slams the declaration that also took aim at the blockade of the Gaza Strip. The Palestinian foreign ministry welcomes the move.

UNESCO's executive board has described Israel's sovereignty over Jerusalem as "null and void." The criticism was issued in a resolution which was backed by 22 countries.

The motion also took aim at Israel's blockade of the Gaza Strip.
