UNESCO says Israel's sovereignty over Jerusalem is "null and void"

The resolution by UNESCO's executive board passed 22-10 with 23 abstentions. Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu slammed the declaration. The Palestinian foreign ministry welcomed the move.

UNESCO's executive board has described Israel's sovereignty over Jerusalem as "null and void." The criticism was issued in a resolution which was backed by 22 countries.

The motion also took aim at Israel's blockade of the Gaza Strip.
