World champion Kenan Sofuoglu told an AA reporter that his physical form is in exceptional shape for this year's Supersport World Championship as result of intense training for the past 15 days,
Sofuoglu a Turkish professional motorcycle racer who has won the highest number of Supersport World Championship titles, is seen by some analysts as the most successful rider to have ever competed in the Supersport World Championship.
Sofuoglu said he is satisfied with his current performance, “In respect to my previous lap times on the course, looking at my current performance, i can say i am completely ready to race."
Sofuoglu suffered difficulties with his physical conditioning during practice runs in Spain.
“Everything was mechanically fine but i had struggled with my physical condition. When i arrived in Turkey, my team prevented me from doing anything besides training. I followed my team’s words and trained everyday while my most recent training was on a bicycle at a mountain with snow,” he said.
“I can say i’m 100 percent ready for the championship. Everything is on track and our morals are high. By the will of god, i am aiming for a victorious 25 points from the first race in Australia.”
The FIM Supersport World Championship will launch its first round at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit on the 26th to 28th of February in Australia, the grid consists of 34 riders with Sofuoglu qualifying first in the provisional permanent entry list.
After racing with the number 54 on his motorcycle throughout his career, Sofuoglu will start this year's season with the number 1 imprinted on his riding gear.
