Two people died and several others were wounded on Sunday in a car accident in Santiago, Chile when street revelers were celebrating Chile’s victory in the Copa America, a local radio said.

Local radio Bio-Bio reported that a car crashed into the streets while people were celebrating the victory of Chile as their team beat Argentina 4-1 on penalties.

Street revelers escaped into bars and squares, running into the streets to protect themselves.

Local media reported that some of the revelers attempted to plunder shops and supermarkets, but they were stopped by police.

Despite the deadly incident, the Copa tournament was free of hooliganism which had been seen in football matches in the region.

There were no reports of notable violence.
