An armed attack to the vehicle of Murat Sancak, the Board Chairman of Star Media, occurred in Hadimkoy, Istanbul. Many bullets targeted the moving vehicle as Sancak and his security guards escaped without any injuries.

According to the police investigations, two assailants, who were reportedly wearing masks, have opened fired on Sancak’s vehicle and fled the scene immediately.

"My life has no value when there are so many soldiers being martyred, we will not give up our editorial policy and I will sacrifice my life if necessary" Murat Sancak was quoted as saying.

Following the attacks, several Turkish media outlets released statements of condemnation.

Meanwhile, in a written statement Star Media Group said the group was recently the target of a systematic campaign.

"We would like to remind these terrorist groups that their efforts to silence Star Media are futile," the statement said. The statement also criticized "political party leaders, media companies and intellectuals linked to them, who motivate terror groups."

Star Media Group was also targeted earlier in July when a time bomb was found in the garden of Star Media center.

Near the bomb, the militant group MLKP’s flag was found.

Among the four bullets that hit to the windshield, two went through.
