An explosion on Tuesday near a central Istanbul subway station injured one person, the province's governor said.
The blast occurred at an intersection in the Bayrampasa district on the European side at around 6.00 pm local time (1600GMT). One person was slightly injured, the governor Vasip Sahin said.
The injured man, Adnan Yalcin, 36, is in stable condition, according to hospital sources.
Windows of several nearby buildings and cars were broken because of the blast.
The cause of the explosion is unknown, Sahin noted. "We are evaluating all the possibilities," he said.
"As the incident occurred in a crowded place, it appeared in the media as if it was a big explosion, but there are no victims, fortunately," the governor added.
Meanwhile, Istanbul Police Chief Mustafa Caliskan is at the site for investigation.
