Bomb discovered in Turkey's Sanliurfa ahead of HDP rally

Security forces detained five suspects on Monday in Turkey's southeastern province Sanliurfa, as they were preparing and planting an improvised explosive device in the park where the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) rally would take place the same day.

The special operations forces were dispatched to the crime scene after the suspects were noticed by security officers, while high security measures were taken in the region.

Upon the attempt of the militants to escape, the police opened fire and detained 5, one of them was left injured.

The official reports said the suspects were also determined to carry out a bomb attack on a police vehicle last week.

The policemen found many explosives in the park, as the investigation deepened.

In the meantime, 20 suspects were detained on early Tuesday in Sanliurfa over charges of provocation ahead of the HDP rally and the police found further evidence during the operations launched to several addresses.
