At least eight people were killed and 26 others suffered injuries when a bus overturned on Monday due to heavy snowfall in Turkey’s central Anatolian province of Kirsehir, local sources said.

According to initial reports, the bus was en route to Ankara when the accident took place on the road near the Kaman district of Kirsehir.

Kirsehir Governor Necati Senturk has said that the injured were taken to Ahi Evran University Hospital and three of them have heavy wounds, Turkey's Anadolu Agency reported.

The rescue operation has finished following a careful conduct by Turkey's AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Authority), Senturk added.
