A recent discovery of explosives and arms in a truck belonging to a Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) municipality in Van, present further evidence towards the increasing suspicions regarding HDP’s overlook in the terror attacks of outlawed PKK.

Van police department announced that the police forces seized 100 kilograms of ammonium nitrate, 26 detonators and 20 large batteries that are used in bomb making from a truck owned by the Van municipality.

The statement said, “In investigations carried out between the dates of Aug. 8 to 18 in Van, two suspects were found in the truck.” Also , “Three were detained near HDP municipality station in front of the governing Justice and Development Party (AK Party) building who left the area after police warned them. In a bag found in the area soon after, police found one anti-tank mine.”

A recent report of Hurriyet Daily News (HDN) claimed that 93 municipalities held by the HDP affiliated Democratic Regions Party (DRP) were being investigated for providing support to the PKK, by means of providing construction equipment and personnel, employing PKK-linked staff, giving arms, and helping them escape from security forces.

HDN report informs municipalities held by DBP includes three metropolitan cities which are Diyarbakir, Mardin and Van, in addition to 11 cities, 68 districts and 23 towns.

Latest terror attacks by PKK include the use of home-made explosives which they used in setting up traps on roads that caused the deaths of many soldiers and civilians.

According to records,  the number of fallen soldiers in terror attacks since the deadly Suruc bombing on July 20, reached 57 while 6 civilians have also been killed.

In a contradictory statement to the acts involving HDP mentioned above, HDP co-chair Selahattin Demirtas called on PKK to lay down arms.

He said, “PKK must stop armed, bomb and violent actions. There is no excuse for using arms and violence. The mistakes of the AK Party cannot be returned by killing soldiers and policemen. “

It was also discovered, injured PKK terrorist who was caught while trying to escape after attacking special operation units police in Sirnak province, is a 33 year old state employee Nevas Sancak working at Idil State Hospital in Sirnak.

Sirnak municipality is also governed by the HDP.
